Seales, Holder return to WI squad for England Tests
West Indies have selected the inexperienced opening batsman Mikyle Louis for their forthcoming three-Test tour of England in July.
The 15-member team, led by Kraigg Brathwaite with Alzarri Joseph as his deputy, includes Jayden Seales, who was absent from the previous series against Australia due to injury. Jason Holder, who had previously declared himself unavailable for the last tour, has now returned.
Louis, a 23-year-old player who has previously represented the U19 team, has been selected based on his impressive results in his first season of First-Class cricket. He scored a total of 682 runs for the Leeward Island Hurricanes, with an average of 48.71.
Isai Thorne, a 19-year-old fast bowler, will join the team as a development player due to his impressive performance in his first season of First-Class cricket. He took 31 wickets in eight matches, at an average of 16.29.
“The team has been formed with a combination of seasoned players and promising young talent, ensuring a solid equilibrium as we confront the task of playing in English conditions,” stated Desmond Haynes, the chief selector of CWI. “Throughout the previous year, our red-ball program has consistently progressed.” After winning the final Test in Australia in January, it is clear that we are now experiencing the positive outcomes of our previous investment. Every player chosen has secured their position via unwavering performances and diligent effort. We have full confidence that this combination of experienced individuals and up-and-coming talents will excel in their performance versus England.
The Richards-Botham Trophy will commence at Lord’s on July 10th.
